Cassie Silver from Channel 7’s Today Tonight was MC for The re-opening of The New Guildford hotel. It was a lavish affair and despite the weather, approximately 600 people turned up for this event.

The transformation was a well kept secret with doors and windows completely hidden for some time.

The renovation pays homage to the hotel’s history, the restoration has been described as a treasure hunt with discovery of original fireplaces, door frames, windows & roof work, to be found in every room and every room tells a story.

In 1883 the Guildford hotel was built on the corner of James and Johnston Street & in 1914 it received a new facade, in 1998 it was heritage listed & in 2008 it was almost completely destroyed by fire and didn’t receive its restoration until just last year.

The honourable COLIN Barnett was there to congratulate all involved.

This unique Heritage project has kept its grandeur from it’s past on the outside, and on the inside has maintained its beauty & reflects not only the hotel but the history of the fire from 2008.
